A prominent city law firm has named Chicago partner Craig C. Martin head of its litigation department, the firm announced Tuesday.

“Mr. Martin is a nationally recognized litigator who has spent his 27-year career at Jenner & Block,” according to a statement from the firm. “Along the way, he has been called upon by corporate America and some of the nation’s wealthiest families to protect their interests from the courtroom to the boardroom.”

Martin has served as co-chair of the litigation department with David Bradford for the last eight years. He has represented Aon, Dow Chemical and Northern Trust, among other clients.

“It is an honor and a privilege to serve the firm and chair the litigation department,” Martin said. “Our primary focus has been and will continue to be serving the needs of our clients, helping them protect and defend their interests in an increasingly litigious and complex environment.”

Martin, named one of Chicago Magazine’s 100 most powerful people, served on the board of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago for nearly 20 years. He is also on the board of the Lyric Opera and Crown Family Therapies.

Jenner & Block, headquartered in Chicago, has more than 400 litigators in Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, Washington D.C. and London. The firm specializes in commercial litigation, arbitration and business transactions.
