A man armed with a golf club robbed a 7-Eleven late Friday in southwest suburban Orland Park.
Timothy Stack, 25, has been charged with armed robbery, a Class X felony, according to a statement from Orland Park police.
At 10:54 p.m. Friday, an officer conducting a random business check at the 7-Eleven at 9985 151st St. learned the store had just been robbed, police said.
The suspect entered the store armed with the golf club and told the clerk that he had “four guys outside in a car with guns,” police said. The robber made off with less than $50 and ran away southbound.
Soon after police established a perimeter in the neighborhood and deployed the K9 Unit, an officer spotted a man matching the suspect’s description running on railroad tracks near the 14900 block of Huntington Court, police said. A brief chase ensued, and the suspect was apprehended.
The clerk positively identified the man as the robber and proceeds from the robbery were found in the man’s pockets, police said. Investigators believe the golf club, which was not recovered, was discarded somewhere in the neighborhood.
Stack, who lives in the 15300 block of Silver Bell Road in Orland Park, has been ordered held in Cook County Jail on a $500,000 bond. He is next scheduled to appear in court Friday.
