Sixteen people were hospitalized after pepper spray was released Thursday morning at a charter school in the South Side Oakland neighborhood.

The pepper spray accidentally discharged at the University of Chicago Charter Shcool – Donoghue campus at 707 E. 37th St., according to Fire Media Affairs.

Eight people were taken to Mercy Hospital and eight were taken to Comer Children’s Hospital, according to Fire Media. All were in good condition.
