A man was shot in the face Thursday evening in the Back of the Yards neighborhood on the South Side.

The 28-year-old was discovered about 6:20 p.m. in the 4500 block of South Wood, according to Chicago Police.

He had been shot in the face and was taken in serious condition to Stroger Hospital, police said.

A police source said the man is a documented gang member.

The man was found unresponsive in an alley in the 10700 block of South Lowe Avenue, police said.
