A 21-year-old south suburban man has been charged with fatally shooting a 17-year-old boy in the head in south suburban Park Forest Sunday afternoon.

Lenae Patterson of Park Forest has been charged with one count of first-degree murder for shooting 17-year-old De’Andre Allen, according to a statement from Park Forest police.

Patterson shot Allen on Feb. 21 at 4 p.m. when Allen was outside of his home in the 0-100 block of Gibson Road in Park Forest, police said. Paramedics rushed Allen to St. James Hospital in Chicago Heights.

Allen suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital at 4:15 a.m. Tuesday, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The shooting was “the result of a dispute between Patterson and Allen,” police said. Investigators found the gun Patterson used in the shooting, which helped them secure charges against him, police said.
