Elgin man charged with forging order of protection

A northwest suburban man has been charged with forgery for creating a false order of protection for a couple in Elgin.

A woman came to the Elgin Police Department Jan. 15 to file a report about a neighbor dispute, according to a statement from police. She told an officer she had received an order of protection against her neighbor.

The officer reviewed the document and found it to be fraudulent, police said. The woman told investigators she and her husband had paid $300 to someone they knew only as “Jr. Sanchez” to obtain the order of protection on their behalf.

Investigators identified the suspect as 25-year-old Adivai Reyna of the 400 block of Hastings Street in Elgin, police said. He was brought to the police station for questioning and later charged with a Class 3 felony count of issuing forged documents. His bond was set at $10,000.
