Sportsbook says it hasn’t taken a single ‘under’ bet on Cubs wins total

Embed from Getty ImagesWhen Atlantis Casino released its MLB win total over/unders earlier this month, the Cubs’ number seemed a bit low, and apparently the public agrees.

After previously setting Chicago’s win total at 89, Atlantis sportsbook director Steve Mikkelson told ESPN Monday that they haven’t taken a single ‘under’ bet on the Cubs.

That type of action on the over has caused the line to move to 93 in less than two weeks.

And while 93 wins is no guarantee, it certainly seems like a better over/under for a team that appears to have strengthened its lineup fresh off a 97-win season in 2015.

World Series odds might be a better reflection of Cubs expectations that have now hit an all-time high.

The Cubs are currently 4-1 favorites to capture their first world championship since 1908. No other team has odds in the single digits, and that gap might continue to grow.

According to ESPN, Chicago enters spring training as the biggest World Series favorite in four years, and has attracted twice as much as any other MLB team at the SuperBook in Las Vegas.

A little farther down the Las Vegas Strip, the MGM has already written more than 2,500 tickets on the Cubs to win the World Series – four times as many as any other team, according to ESPN.

If that trend continues, those odds will only continue to shrink.

The Giants and Dodgers (both currently 10-1 according to Bovada) have brought in the second-most money, the report said.
