A 20-year-old man was shot twice in the East Garfield Park neighborhood Friday evening on the West Side.

He was walking in the 3400 block of West Van Buren about 6:30 p.m. when someone opened fire from a passing vehicle, according to Chicago Police.

The man suffered wounds to the leg and groin. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, police said.

Police said the shooting likely was gang-related.

A 16-year-old boy was shot minutes earlier less than a mile away in the same neighborhood.
