Jonathan Toews gave Chicago a 2-1 lead at the end of the second period.

Chicago has an infusion of new players, but it’s the Blackhawks veterans that have Chicago leading 2-1 after two periods against Washington.

Patrick Kane’s first-period goal tied the score at one and Jonathan Toews scored a power-play goal in the closing minutes of the second to give the Blackhawks a 2-1 lead.

The goal, Toews’ 22nd of the season, was assisted by Teuvo Teravainen and newcomer Andrew Ladd.
