A 45-year-old man died after a crash early Monday in southwest suburban Plainfield.
The crash happened in the eastbound lanes of Route 126 half a mile east of County Line Road at 4:41 a.m., according to Illinois State Police.
Harold Fite was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Impala on Route 126 when he drove off the south side of the road and struck a Ford F-150, police said. The pickup was parked in the driveway of a home in the 26000 block of West Route 126, and no one was inside.
Fite, of Plainfield, was taken to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, police said.
The Illinois State Police Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit is investigating.
