A woman crashed her car into a gas meter and an ambulance in two separate incidents Tuesday afternoon in north suburban Fox Lake.

The 48-year-old woman was driving a Pontiac Grand Prix when it struck a gas meter attached to a home in the 100 block of Lake View Avenue about 4:30 p.m., according to Fox Lake police.

She left the scene, later saying she thought she had only struck bushes, police said. Officers investigating the crash called her and asked her to return.

On her way back to the scene, she struck a Fox Lake Fire Protection District ambulance at Route 12 and Oak Avenue, police said.

She requested to be taken to the hospital for an unrelated medical condition, police said. No injuries were reported in either crash.

The woman was issued one citation, and the investigation is ongoing, police said.
