A man has been charged with robbing a northwest Indiana auto part store at gunpoint in December.

Four people, including 21-year-old Richard D. Smith, robbed the Advance Auto Parts store in the 2200 block of Grant Street in Gary, Ind., at gunpoint on Dec. 22, according to a statement from Gary police. They took the drawers from the cash registers and ran away.

Smith, who lives in Hammond, Ind., is charged with armed robbery and criminal confinement, police said. He has been taken into custody, but the identity of the other suspects – who were wearing masks – remains unknown.
