The Will County sheriff’s deputies seized about $250,000 worth of cocaine during a traffic stop Wednesday afternoon in south suburban Peotone.

About 3:15 p.m. deputies were driving on Wilmington-Peotone Road near Route 50 when they saw the driver of a Ford F-350 pickup commit a traffic violation, according to a statement from the sheriff’s office.

Deputies pulled the pickup over and spoke to the driver, 36-year-old Juan M. Hernandez, who appeared “visibly nervous” and made several furtive movements, police said.

The deputies called a K-9 unit and the dog found drugs inside the pickup, according to police.

Five kilograms of cocaine were found in the vehicle, with an estimated street value of $250,000.

Hernandez, of Joliet, was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, and issued two traffic citations, according to police. He was scheduled to appear in bond court Thursday in Joliet.
