Bond was set at $50,000 for an 18-year-old man charged with breaking into two apartments near northwest suburban Des Plaines early Saturday.
Humberto Moran, an unincorporated Des Plaines resident, faces two felony counts of residential burglary, according to the Cook County sheriff’s office.
Deputies were called to a burglary in progress about 3:30 a.m. at an apartment complex in the 9600 block of Greenwood Avenue in unincorporated Maine Township, sheriff’s police said.
While the deputies were searching, someone reported a suspicious person in another complex nearby in the 8600 block of Golf Road, where they found a man matching a description given in the initial burglary, police said.
They found Moran along with a wallet and other stolen items nearby, including some that had been taken during a second break-in at the Golf Road complex, police said.
Moran was ordered held on a $50,000 bond and was next scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.
