SHARE Super Bowl draws second-highest overnight ratings in history

It didn’t have last year’s incredible finish, but Super Bowl 50 held enough interest to score the second-highest overnight TV ratings since records were kept in 1976, according to CBS.

The Broncos’ 24-10 victory over the Panthers on CBS had an average rating of 49.0 and a share of 73, narrowly edging last year’s thriller between the Patriots and Seahawks, which had a 49.7.

The game was close most of the way and the numbers reflected it as the audience grew in the second half, peaking with a 51.0 in the final 15 minutes of the broadcast.
