Make no mistake, the Warriors are intent on breaking the NBA single-season wins record set by the 1996 Bulls.

Golden State’s Harrison Banres recently told FOX that Chicago’s record of 72 wins means a lot to the team.

Now more than 60 percent of the way through the season, the Warriors are on pace to win 75 games and are ahead of the pace set by that Bulls team through 50 games (Chicago lost for the fifth time in Game 46). No other team has won 70 games in a season, but the Warriors’ 46-4 start equals the best 50-game start in NBA history.

Last year, Charles Barkley said Chicago would “kill” Golden State if the two teams could play, but Warriors coach Steve Kerr said the game would come down to the final possession.

FiveThirtyEight’s NBA projections have Golden State finishing with exactly 72 wins.

The Warriors will put their 41-game home winning streak on the line Tuesday night when they take on Houston before beginning a seven-game road trip.
