A teenage boy was shot late Monday night in northwest suburban Elgin.

The 17-year-old was shot several times about 11:50 p.m. in the 1000 block of Villa Street, according to Elgin police.

The victim told police he was “in the area with friends when he was shot by an unknown offender, ” police said.

His injuries were not considered life-threatening.
