A 15-year-old boy was critically wounded in a shooting late Thursday morning in the Brainerd neighborhood on the South Side.

The boy was shot in the face about 11:10 a.m. in the 9000 block of South Bishop, according to Chicago Police.

He was taken in critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, police said.

Police said the shooting was possibly accidental, but additional details were not immediately available.
