Cornerback Sherrick McManis is returning to the Bears on a two-year deal, the team announced.

The Northwestern alum was special teams stalwart but struggled in pass coverage. He played 302 snaps at cornerback after totaling only 58 in the previous two seasons.

In four seasons and 55 total games with the Bears, he led the team with 55 special teams tackles.

On Tuesday, Wildcats coach Pat Fitzgerald said he was proud of the man who still trains on campus.

“Hope he gets paid,” he said.
