67-year-old man dies in Aurora crash

A 67-year-old man died Friday after being struck by a pickup truck in west suburban Aurora.

George Edwards, of the 1500 block of North Farnsworth Avenue, was struck by a Chevrolet pickup truck around 6:15 p.m. while he was crossing the intersection of North Farnsworth Avenue and Marshall Boulevard, according to a statement from Aurora police.

He was taken to Presence Mercy Medical Center in Aurora, where he was pronounced dead, police said. The Kane County coroner’s office could not immediately confirm the fatality.

The 75-year-old woman driving the Chevrolet pickup truck was cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian in the crosswalk, police said. Alcohol or drug use was not thought to be a factor.
