A 37-year-old man found shot to death in the West Garfield Park neighborhood Thursday morning has been identified as West Side resident Askie Wajd.

He was found just before 5 a.m. unresponsive on the ground in the 4600 block of West Monroe, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Wajd was dead at the scene with a gunshot wound to the side of the head, authorities said. He lived about two blocks away in the 4500 block of West Jackson.

Area North detectives are conducting a homicide investigation.
