A 16-year-old boy was shot late Monday night in northwest Indiana.
Officers responded to a shooting in the 1300 block of Chase Street in Gary at 11 p.m. and followed a blood trail from the sidewalk into a home, according to a statement from Gary Police Lt. Thomas Pawlak.
Inside the home, the officers found the teenager shot once in the left side of his chest, Pawlak said.
The victim said he was outside visiting with a friend when a silver vehicle drove by and someone inside shot at him. His friend helped him inside and they called police.
He was taken to Methodist Hospital Northlake for treatment, Pawlak said.
Anyone with information about the shooting should call Sgt. Michael Barnes at (219) 881-7434.
