A man was shot early Thursday in the Avalon Park neighborhood on the South Side.

The 31-year-old man was shot in the eye, arm and finger during a robbery in the 8700 block of South Jeffrey Avenue about 5:30 a.m., according to Chicago Police.

He was taken by a family member to Advocate Trinity Hospital and will be transferred to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in serious condition, police said.
