A 28-year-old man was shot Friday evening in the South Deering neighborhood on the Far South Side.

He was walking near the intersection of East 100th Street and South Yates Boulevard just after 7 p.m. when someone in a passing vehicle fired shots, hitting him in the hip, according to Chicago Police.

He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition was stabilized.
