A northwest suburban man was killed after he was hit by car early Wednesday in northwest suburban Palatine.

At 12:58 a.m., Palatine police responded to a call of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle in the 200 block of North Quentin Road, between Willow and Wood streets, according to Palatine police.

Kelly L. Corcoran, 37, of Wheeling, was wearing dark clothing and walking southbound in the curb lane of Quentin when a 2013 Subaru Legacy hit him, police said. The 26-year-old driver, the only person in the car, was not injured and immediately called 911.

Corcoran suffered severe injuries and died shortly after arriving at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, police said. He lived in the 300 block of Thelma Court in Wheeling, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

There are sidewalks along the west side of North Quentin Road, which was closed for almost 5 hours while the Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team investigated the accident, police said.

No citations were issued, though the crash remains under investigation, police said.
