Philip Winchester of “Strike Back” and “The Player” will be part of the cast of “Chicago Law,” NBC’s proposed spinoff of “Chicago Fire” and “Chicago P.D.”

Hollywoodtrades report he’s the first actor hired for the new show in producer Dick Wolf’s franchise of Windy City procedurals.

Just as the intrepid professionals of “Chicago P.D.” and “Chicago Med” made their debuts on Wolf’s other shows, NBC may give us our first look at Winchester’s character on “Chicago P.D.”

“We could plant the seeds for some characters who could live within the world of ‘P.D.’,” NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke said when the idea first surfaced last month.”

Winchester starred in the Cinemax action series “Strike Back” and opposite Wesley Snipes in this season’s short-lived NBC series “The Player.”
