A man who was shot to death Tuesday night in the West Englewood neighborhood on the South Side has been identified.

Charis Vernell Eaton, 23, was inside a business in the 1200 block of West 69th Street at 7:30 p.m. when someone came in and fired shots, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Eaton, of the 7600 block of South Loomis, suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the back and was taken to Stroger Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 8:22 p.m., according to the medical examiner’s office.

His death was ruled a homicide.
