A man was shot in the 5200 block of South Winchester in the Back of the Yards neighborhood Tuesday evening, the same South Side block where a man was shot to death earlier in the day.

About 7 p.m., a 32-year-old man got into a fight with someone who pulled out a gun and opened fire, according to Chicago Police. The man was shot in the arm and back and taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was stabilized.

Earlier Tuesday, 34-year-old Alcaraz C. Reyes was shot in the chest at 6:18 a.m. in the same block, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Reyes, who lived on the same block as the shooting, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:08 a.m., the medical examiner’s office said.

Police could not immediately say if the two shootings were related. No one has been taken into custody for either incident as Area Central detectives investigate.
