A man was shot Tuesday afternoon in the West Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side.

The 42-year-old was standing outside in the 4400 block of West Maypole a few minutes after 2 p.m. when a vehicle approached and someone got out and opened fire, according to Chicago Police.

He suffered a gunshot wound to the leg and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition stabilized, police said.
