TEMPE, Ariz. — The Cubs optioned right-handed reliever Spencer Patton to Class AAA Iowa on Monday.

The move ends a spectacular spring run in which the SIU-Edwardsville alum threw eight scoreless innings.

The Cubs’ roster is down to 35 players with Opening Day a week away.
