MESA, Ariz. — All eyes will be on Javy Baez starting in center field for the Cubs as they open their spring training schedule Thursday in Maryvale, Ariz., against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Baez, one of the best defensive infielders across the diamond, has been working in center since winter ball, and the club expects him to become a linchpin for their bench as a super utility player.
