Man shot to death in Gary

A man was shot to death late Wednesday in northwest Indiana.

Officers found a 43-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the chest in the 3400 block of Grant Street in Gary around 9:10 p.m., according to a statement from Gary police. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was later identified as Randall Knefel, who lived in the 4600 block of Arthur Street in Gary, according to the coroner’s office. His death was ruled a homicide.

It is believed he was shot at a different location in the area, police said.
