A 41-year-old man is facing charges after a gun was recovered from the scene of a crash early Tuesday on the Kennedy Expressway on the Northwest Side.

Larry I. Vaughn was charged with unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, and possession of a firearm with defaced markings, according to Illinois State Police. He was also cited for not having a valid FOID card and possession of ammunition without an FOID card.

The two-vehicle crash happened about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday on I-90/94 near Addison, state police said. Investigators recovered a handgun with a scratched-off serial number at the scene, and Vaughn was arrested.

Police said no injuries were reported in the crash.

Vaughn, of Chicago, was ordered held on a $100,000 bond, according to the Cook County sheriff’s office. He is next scheduled to appear in court April 5.
