Robberies reported in Austin

Police are warning residents of a series of robberies in the past month in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side.

The robberies occurred at:

  • 1:55 a.m. Feb. 8 in the 5400 block of West Huron Street;
  • 2:35 a.m. Feb. 11 in the 200 block of South Lockwood Avenue;
  • 11:20 p.m. Feb. 26 in the 5200 block of West Quincy Street;
  • 12:30 p.m. Feb. 27 in the 5900 block of West Madison Street.

A group of men walk up to the victim, display a gun and demand property, according to a community alert from Chicago Police.

Police believe there is a group of two to five black men robbing the victims. The men are described as 20 to 33 years old standing between 5-foot-7 and 5-foot-11, police said.
