Three robberies of bicyclists along a portion of The 606 / Bloomingdale Trail in the Northwest Side in recent weeks on the have prompted a community alert from the police.

The robberies all occurred at night. Each time, someone riding a bike on the popular cycling and walking trail was tackled or placed into a headlock by two to four teenagers or young men who robbed them and ran off, according to the police.

They happened around 11:30 p.m. Feb 19 at 3200 W. Bloomingdale, around 11:15 p.m. Tuesday at 2542 W. Bloomingdale and around 10:30 p.m. Thursday at 2558 W. Bloomingdale, the police said.

In the last case, one of the suspects had a gun and the victim struggled with him over the gun.
