The police issued three community alerts to West Side residents Friday after a spate of robberies in East Garfield Park and West Garfield Park since the start of the year.

Most recently, a man implying he had a weapon accosted people after they withdrew money from ATMs in two separate incidents last week, according to the police. Those robberies both were reported March 1, about 3:30 a.m. in the 3300 block of West Roosevelt and 12:50 p.m. in the 4100 block of West Madison.

Two men or teenagers brandishing a gun carried out three robberies last month, according to a separate alert from 11th District police. Two of them happened in the 3400 block of West Arthington, about 12:30 p.m. Feb. 14 and 6:30 p.m. Feb. 15; and the third was reported nearby in the 3500 block of West Arthington about 7:30 p.m. Feb. 20.

Another pair of gun-toting men robbed victims of their wallets about noon Jan. 11 in the 4700 block of West Monroe; about 11:30 a.m. Jan. 29 in the 4400 block of West Monroe; and about 12:30 p.m. Feb. 29 in the 4500 block of West Maypole, police said.
