Woman shot to death in Gary

A 56-year-old woman was found shot to death Saturday evening in Gary, Indiana.

Donether Barnes was found with multiple gunshot wounds about 6:10 p.m. at the rear door of an apartment building in the 2100 block of West Fifth Avenue, according to Gary police and the Lake County coroner’s office.

Barnes was pronounced dead at 7:21 p.m. and her death was ruled a homicide. According to the coroner’s office, Barnes lived in Gary but her home address was not provided.
