A man was killed in a crash Thursday afternoon when his motorcycle rear-ended an SUV on I-55 near southwest suburban Bolingbrook.

About 1:30 p.m., 45-year-old Brian Readus was driving the motorcycle in the northbound lanes of I-55 just south of Route 53 when, for unknown reasons, the bike crashed into the rear of an SUV, according to a statement from Illinois State Police.

Readus, of Naperville, was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. The driver and passenger of the SUV were not injured.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Illinois State Police Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit.
