The city of Rockford is planning a rock star celebration for hometown band Cheap Trick’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The band will be inducted into the Hall of Fame on Friday night.

Rockford officials say that Mayor Larry Morrissey on Friday afternoon will “officially, unofficially” rename the city “Trickford” in honor of the band. It formed in Rockford in 1973.

The city is installing new “Welcome to Trickford” signs. The boyhood streets of the four band members also will be renamed after them.

And a new Cheap Trick Fan Trail will feature sites that are part of the band’s roots.

Rockford Area Convention and Visitors Bureau President John Groh says they’re also planning an early fall music festival.
