A 16-year-old boy was killed and another teenager was injured in a shooting Friday morning in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the West Side.

Eddy Brooks and a 17-year-old boy were sitting on a porch in the 3500 block of West Chicago about 10:30 a.m. when someone walked up and opened fire, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Brooks, who lived in the 6300 block of South Morgan, was shot in the head and taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:49 a.m. Saturday, authorities said.

The other teenager suffered gunshot wounds to the thigh and calf, police said. He took himself to Norwegian American Hospital, where he was treated and released.
