Email threat puts Burbank high school on soft lockdown

A high school in southwest suburban Burbank was put on soft lockdown Wednesday afternoon after staff members received threatening emails.

The school notified police about noon after the threatening emails were sent to “random staff members” at Reavis High School, 6034 W. 77th St., according to Burbank police and a school statement.

Officials put the school on a soft lockdown before investigators determined there was no credible threat by about 2:15 p.m., authorities said.

“All of our students were safely dismissed by 3:10 and we want to thank all of them for their cooperation,” District 220 Superintendent Dan Riordan said in a written statement.

Police have requested help from the FBI to track down the person who sent the emails. Classes were scheduled as usual for Thursday.
