Lake County sheriff’s deputies save two people from overdosing

An investigation into an incident that prompted Lake County sheriff’s deputies to save two people from overdosing late Saturday in north suburban Lake Villa found that multiple drugs may have been involved.

Deputies responded to a call of five adults overdosing at a home in the 39300 block of North Lake Avenue at 11 p.m., according to a statement from the Lake County sheriff’s office.

When the deputies arrived, they found two unconscious and unresponsive people and three who were conscious but incoherent, the sheriff’s office said. The deputies administered a dose of Naloxone to each of the two unresponsive adults, helping them regain their consciousness.

An investigation determined there was cannabis, acid, barbiturates, benzodiazepines and prescription pills located at the scene, the sheriff’s office said.

The four men and one woman, all between 18 and 20 years old, were taken to a hospital, where they were treated and later released, the sheriff’s office said. The investigation remains ongoing.
