A 76-year-old man died after being hit by an SUV in west suburban Riverside early Thursday.

About 4:15 a.m., William Lynch walked in front of a Kia that was southbound in the 2900 block of South Harlem Avenue, according to Riverside police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Lynch was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, where he was pronounced dead at 5:09 a.m., authorities said. He lived in the 3100 block of Oak Park Avenue in Berwyn.

The driver, a 69-year-old man from southwest suburban Orland Park, stayed at the scene of the crash, which was witnessed by two other people, police said. No citations or charges were pending.

Police said Lynch may have intentionally jumped into traffic, but an autopsy Friday ruled his death an accident.
