Two teens are facing felony charges after exchanging gunfire with Chicago Police officers Saturday morning in the West Englewood neighborhood on the South Side.

The officers returned fire after shots were fired at them shortly after 10 a.m. in the 1700 block of West 71st Street, but no one was struck, according to police.

The officers recovered two weapons at the scene and arrested two boys, ages 13 and 17, police said Sunday afternoon.

The older boy was charged with attempted murder, and the younger with unlawful possession of a firearm by a street gang member. Both counts are felonies.

Police withheld their names because they are minors.
