A man was shot and critically wounded in the Austin neighborhood early Sunday on the West Side.

The 37-year-old was standing in an alley about 12:20 a.m. in the 4700 block of West Erie when a gunman walked up and opened fire, striking him in the chest, right leg and right arm, according to Chicago Police.

He was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, police said.
