The James Beard Foundation Awards were presented Monday night in Chicago, and part of the gala evening’s festivities was the debut of “The Chef Whisperer,” a comedic short film chronicling the interactions between an all-star culinary cast and character Carl Stankowski (played by The Second City’s John Hartman) who works “silently, behind the scenes” to mentor each personality to greatness.

Among the cast of critically acclaimed Chicago chefs/restaurateurs (most of whom are also James Beard Award winners): Grant Achatz, Rick Bayless, Carlos Gaytan, Stephanie Izard, Tony Mantuano, RichMelman, Mindy Segal, Alpana Singh, Art Smith, Doug Sohn, Takashi Yagihashi, and others.
