Cubs second baseman Tommy La Stella started his rehab assignment after injuring his oblique during the opening weekend against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Before La Stella’s injury, the Cubs second baseman was hitting .167 in six at-bats.

In his first rehab game, La Stella was 1-2 with run-scored.

La Stella said he’s excited to get back into the dugout and help the Cubs win.

Whatever I can do to help the team, he said. It’s good to be back with the guys.
