IOWA CITY, Iowa — John Groce got after the officials plenty during Illinois’ 68-60 defeat against Iowa. When his team had 10 fouls to the Hawkeyes’ two less than 10 minutes into the game, Groce’s frustration probably was justified.

But it was nothing compared with what Groce has in store for his players. As a group, their attention left a lot to be desired Wednesday night. Only eight assists and 13 turnovers? Yeah, that’s bad. But as individuals, the Illini — some of them, anyway — left a whole lot out on the floor in a loss their team potentially couldn’t afford. From where Groce sits, that’s simply unacceptable.
