SHARE Three vacant homes burglarized in Back of the Yards

Police are investigating three recent burglaries at vacant homes in the South Side Back of the Yards neighborhood.

In each case, a burglar or burglars break in to take property from homes that are abandoned, are in the foreclosure process, or are unoccupied and being remodeled, Area Central detectives said in an alert.

The first burglary happened at 1 p.m. April 10 in the 5300 block of South Wood Street, police said. Another burglary happened at 10 a.m. April 13 in the 1600 block of West 53rd Street. The third was at 9:30 a.m. April 16 in the 5100 block of South Wolcott, police said.
