A 17-year-old boy was shot Monday night in the North Lawndale neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

About 8:10 p.m., the teenager was walking with two other males in the 1600 block of South Springfield when he heard shots ring out and realized he’d been struck, police said.

He was shot in the right buttock and was taken by a family member to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition stabilized, police said.

A police source said the boy is a documented gang member.
